Have a Learner Attitude
Indeed, we may know something “they” don’t, and God will provide opportunities to share our knowledge of the gospel. Yet if we are serious about learning language and culture and earning the right to be heard, then we must come as students and learners rather than as experts.
Let’s face it. No one has fully arrived. No one fully understands their own culture, to say nothing of another culture. If you can keep a learning edge on your life you will also find that humility goes hand-in-hand with it. You will also find that you need those around you, and as you ask for help your connection with others will grow. What follows is usually a better platform to stand on when you try to reach out to those around you.
As you learn, you equip yourself with more tools for life and for ministry—you become a better resource and more effective in what you already know.
