One of the most common questions I get has to do with the origins of the name LIVEº. People want to know where it came from and why we chose such a wierd name.
Than name came from a study of Philippians chapter 2. It is a pretty familiar section of the Bible but we wanted to capture the idea in a way that would engage our target group and allow us to teach about the concepts that Philippians 2 has in it.
The crux of the matter is found in verse 5 where we are encouraged to have “the same attitude as Christ Jesus.” You see, Christ, even though he was God, chose to let go of the rights and priveledges that cam along with that position. He never ceased to be God. Philippians 2 goes on to say that “He made himself nothing.” That is the attitude we are called to have.
Make no mistake—we are not God and we will never be God. We can not give up our rights to divinity because we have none. We can give our rights to other things and act in the same way that Christ acted. We can serve. We can live that attitude out. We can make ourselves nothing. We can live nothing or the nothing attitude.
